Jalan-Jalan Grand Palace,Bangkok
|
|

The Grand Palace has an area of 218,400 sq. metres and is surrounded by walls built in 1782. The length of the four walls is 1,900 metres. Within these walls are situated government offices and the Chapel Royal of the Emerald Buddha besides the royal residences.
When Siam restored law and order after the fall of Ayutthaya the monarch lived in Thonburi on the west side of the river. Rama I, on ascending the throne, moved the centre of administration to this side of the Chao Phraya; and, after erecting public monuments such as fortifications and monasteries, built a palace to serve not only as his residence but also his offices--the various ministries, only one of which remains in the palace walls.
This palace came to be known as the Grand Palace, in which the earliest edifices contemporary with the foundation of Bangkok were the two groups of residences named the Dusit Maha Prasat and the Phra Maha Monthian.

Chakri Naruebet (#911) BESO bEtoi kapal ni..
|
|
The Royal Thai Navy has the only aircraft carrier in the region - the Chakri Naruebet (#911) It carries attack helicopters and the Thai Navy AV-SS Matador Harrier variant.
The Naval Air Force is composed of 1700 men and operates 44 fighters and eight attack helicopters. Unfortunately, Thai Naval aviation is composed of 20 different aircraft types of which 90 are operational. This branch can operate from bases within Thailand or in the case of helicopters and the Matadors, from the deck of the HTMS Chakri Naruebet.
Aside from a few land bases, the Thai Navy now has an aircraft carrier for power projection.
This carrier was built along the lines of the Spanish Navy's Principe de Asturias (R-11), which also is a jump -jet /rotary wing carrier. To conserve expenses, the Chakri was built to commercial standards, thus it has not selective armor over any crucial areas.
The Chakri is designed to provide aid and assistance to people who have been struck by a natural disaster during peacetime, and during a time of war, would embark six heavily-armed Matador fighters, and up to five Chinook helicopters. The Chakri can also carry 675 troops plus their equipment as an adjunct to the amphibious fleet.
This carrier is unique. It was built in Spain at the IZAR Shipyard at Ferrol, Spain, as was the Spanish jump jet carrier. It was laid down on 12 July 1992, and entered service on 10 August 1997. The design drew much from the Principe de Asturias; so many mistakes previously made were avoided. The Chakri is 182.65-meters in length with a flight deck which is 164.10-meters long. Its full load displacement is 11,486-tons, and she is powered by a CODAG plant of diesels and gas turbines. Its top speed is 27.5-kts on gas turbine, and on diesels, the Chakri can make a sustained 17.1-kts. Aside from being able to carry Chinook helicopters and Matador fixed-wing aircraft, the Chakri can carry up to 18 Seahawk helicopters on the flight deck and stored in the hangar. The hangar is also planned for emergency supplies; vehicles; and other equipment required for war or disaster assistance.
